Shopping

It wouldn’t be a vacation without spending an ungodly amount of money while shopping, would it? Or maybe you just want to buy a few souvenirs from the local shops. No matter which way you want to approach it, there is plenty of shopping available near Fort Myers Beach.

Shopping On the Beach

The shops on the beach are mostly focused toward beach gear and touristy items. However, there are a couple shops that sell art work or unique items for your home, such as the Flying Fish Trading Co. Souvenir type shops are generally located near the Times Square area or what I call “downtown”. Flying Fish Trading is located at 2471 Estero Blvd, on the bay side of the island.

Outlet Shops

There are 2 outlet shopping areas near Fort Myers Beach:

Tangier Outlets are located on Summerlin Blvd, about a 10 minute drive from downtown Fort Myers Beach. It’s generally a quiet place and I don’t know how many people actually know about it. They do have Nike and a number of other well known brand shops.

Miromar Outlets is a longer drive, about 30-40 minutes away. You can get there from either the north or south end of the island. It can be a crazy popular place during peak season, but there is lots of parking. They boast “over 140 stores” and brands include Saks 5th Ave, Columbia, Banana Republic and a number of other big name brands. They do have a couple restaurants and a Starbucks so you can make an all day event of it, although I personally am not impressed with the restaurant food or drinks.

Other Nearby Shopping

A few other options are also available for those who are not satisfied by the outlet malls, namely Coconut Point Shopping Center, Naples Waterside Shops, and Flamingo Island Flea Market for those looking for a super budget experience. If you’re looking for a really large flea market experience, check out Fleamasters Fleamarket near downtown Fort Myers, about a 40 minute drive away.
