One of my favorite things about Fort Myers Beach area, or for most of SWFL for that matter, is that wildlife is abundant and humans for the most part coexist with different species in a friendly and respectful manner. Here’s a picture of a pretty large Great Blue Heron who was standing on the dock at the Mound House watching the fisherman and probably watching the water for his own fishing opportunities too. I walked past with my dog, and the heron didn’t do much more than shuffle a bit to the edge in case he felt the need to get out of there.
